Meet Adam Hecht, the Stride employee and musician on our playlist this week

Adam is celebrating his 2 year anniversary at Stride—here’s a bit about his journey.

Adam, you’re a Member Experience Lead here at Stride—tell us a bit about what you do.

As a Member Experience Lead at Stride, I’m responsible for project managing team initiatives, delegating and instructing the Member Experience team through complex member issues, and analyzing and interpreting data. Some examples include leading the training and onboarding of new hires, troubleshooting website bugs and communicating with the product team, and designing creative self-service solutions to ease the support burden and help Stride members find answers faster.

Where are you from originally?

I’m originally from Central New Jersey, but I spent a few years in Brooklyn after graduating Syracuse University. For the past two years, I’ve been living in San Francisco!

What were you doing before you joined Stride?

I worked in the Manhattan hospitality industry in private-member clubs and high-end catering. I also played in two bands during that time, and I recorded two EPs that are still live on Spotify. After moving to San Francisco, I was ready to try my hand at a new industry. I ultimately landed at Stride, where I’ve really had a chance to not only grow, but become part of a great community of super genuine and hardworking people.

Why did you choose to work at Stride?

Everyone at Stride says this, but I chose to work here because of the mission. As someone who had to navigate that rocky terrain of independent benefits in the past, it was awesome to see that there was a company trying to improve the system. I was eager to jump in and utilize my past experience.

What’s the most rewarding part about working at Stride?

When you’re working with a member and they have that “aha” moment with regard to how benefits work. They walk away with a sense of conscious ownership and are empowered to be more assertive when it comes to their health and financial wellbeing.

What’s your favorite memory at Stride (so far)?

My favorite memory at Stride so far was actually my second day on the job. It was the end of August, and Stride was having an oyster shucking outing in Marin County. The Stride team had been gearing up for the busy season, and everyone was ready to let loose one last time before things got crazy. Then there was me, new to the company, probably a little too shy to really let my guard down. Despite that, everyone was so friendly and eager to hear how I had made my way to the team. It made me feel comfortable and excited about the prospects of diving into my new role. I couldn’t have asked for a better introduction.

What’s your favorite movie of all time?

Close tie between Jurassic Park and the Back to the Future Trilogy.

What’s on your Spotify playlist these days?

I’ve been in a real Abba phase lately.

What are some of your hobbies and interests?

I’m a guitarist and songwriter and formally played in bands when I lived in Brooklyn. My musical preferences lean toward classic rock and jazz, although I tend to play and listen to a variety of different genres. I also really enjoy exploring the outdoors in Northern California. I’ve recently hiked and biked the Lake Tahoe area, Yosemite National Park, and Mt. Tam just outside of San Francisco.

What opportunities are you most excited for within the next year at Stride?

Honestly, I’m really excited to see the Stride team continue to grow! I’ve seen the company double since I’ve started, and it’s been awesome to meet so many new faces from all different backgrounds. Stride is going to have a real opportunity to reach a greater audience this year, and I’m happy to be in a position to help make that happen.

Want to work with Adam to help everyone get their own affordable benefits? We’re hiring!
