Meet Bill, Who Gives Back to Gig Workers by Designing the Stride User Experience

Bill is celebrating his 3 year anniversary at Stride—here’s a bit about his journey as Stride’s Product Designer.

Bill, you’re a Product Designer here at Stride—tell us a bit about what you do.

My job is to be an advocate for the user and create the best experience for them. I need to understand who our users are, what makes them tick, and what they’re trying to achieve so that I can design the best experiences for them.

Where are you from originally?

I was born in Denver, Colorado, but raised in Palo Alto, California.

What were you doing before you joined Stride?

I was working with several small startups and entrepreneurs around the Bay Area as a freelancer to design their first products. It gave me an opportunity to experience many of the trials and tribulations gig workers face on a daily basis.

Why did you choose to work at Stride?

Stride has great people and a company mission that’s focused on helping gig workers that I interact with everyday. It feels really great to be working on so many impactful projects with people you can call your friends, both in and out of the office.

What’s the most rewarding part about working at Stride?

Talking to gig workers that we’ve helped. It’s really cool hearing their life stories and how Stride has helped to make those tough times in life a little easier for them. Especially because so many people interact with and benefit from gig workers like delivery drivers and rideshare drivers every single day.

What’s your favorite memory at Stride (so far)?

Barbecuing oysters on Hog Island with the entire Stride fam.

What are some of your hobbies and interests?

Photography, movies, music, skateboarding, visual arts, fashion...anything creatively inspired gets me excited.

What opportunities are you most excited for within the next year at Stride?

I have a lot of ideas for our mobile app that I’ve developed over the past couple years that I hope will become a reality within the next year. Right now, I’m working on creating a first-time user experience for the app that will deliver more value to our users more quickly and easily.

What’s your favorite movie of all time?

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.

What’s on your Spotify playlist these days?

Frank Ocean, Alex G, Beach House, JPEGMAFIA, SZA, Faye Webster, Playboi Carti, Magdalena Bay
